.KEY MESSAGES...
- Another Cold Weather Advisory will likely be needed on Sunday
  night.

- Much of next week looks mainly dry with well below normal
  temperatures.

.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 113 AM CST Sat Jan 24 2026

Today and Tonight

A 1036 mb high pressure area will provide light winds and well
below-normal temperatures. High temperatures will be in the
single digits above and below zero. Low temperatures will range
from 0 to 20 below. Due to clouds from the low pressure system
moving to our south and southeast, northeast Iowa and southwest
Wisconsin will see the warmest low temperatures tonight. With
light winds, wind chills will be very close to the air
temperatures. Cold weather headlines will not be needed for this
time period.

Sunday night

A low pressure system will move northeast through the Mid
Atlantic and into the Atlantic. Meanwhile, a 1040 mb Arctic high
will move south into the Dakotas. As this occurs, the surface
pressure gradient will increase across the region. As northwest
winds climb into the 10 to 15 mph range and temperatures range
from 10 to 20 below, there is anywhere from an 80 to 100 percent
chance that wind chills will be -25F or colder as a result
another Cold Weather Advisory will likely be needed.

Next Week

Northwest flow will continue to bring well below-normal
temperatures to the area. From Monday through Friday, high
temperatures will be in the single digits and teens and low
temperatures will be in the single digits above and below zero.
With generally light winds, not anticipating any Cold Weather
headlines at this time. Much of the week currently looks dry,
but there could be some light snow on Wednesday and maybe
Saturday.
