- After a slightly cooler day today, temperatures this week will
  climb into the triple digits most locations each afternoon. Heat
  Advisories are likely, as the effects of heat are cumulative,
  and present an increasing risk of heat-related illnesses.

- Rain chances will be slim to none.

.SHORT TERM...
(Today through Monday afternoon)

WV imagery this morning shows the upper ridge centered along the
northern border of New Mexico/Oklahoma, offering a little respite
from what would otherwise be warmer conditions for West Texas and
Southeast new Mexico if the ridge was closer/stronger.  Instead,
highs today will be only a couple of degrees warmer than yesterday--
around 6-8 F above climatology.  Convective temps will be much
higher, and no precipitation is anticipated.  In fact, chances of
rain this forecast are slim to none.

Tonight, overnight minimums should be the coolest lows expected over
the next week.  However, they`ll still come in ~ 6-8 F above normal.
Unfortunately, unseasonably warm temperatures will persist for some
time, due to the redevelopment of the LLJ each night.

Monday, the ridge is forecast to develop south, centering over New
Mexico and the Texas Panhandle, yielding perhaps the warmest day
this forecast as highs plateau ~ 8-10 F above normal.  Heat
Advisories will likely be needed for the mountains and Eddy County,
and we`ll let the day shift make the call on that.

(Monday night through Saturday)

Not much to expound upon in the extended, in which warm and dry
conditions persist, as the upper ridge doesn`t move much. ,
Widespread triple digits are expected each afternoon, with lows
remaining unseasonably warm each night.  Heat Advisories will be
possible to one extent or another all week, especially Friday. As
mentioned above, rain chances are nowhere to be found, and typical
for late July/early August.
